Where has all the niceness gone...

After all the wonderful tidings of Christmas and the feeling of hope for the future, I am finding a slump in the atmosphere around town and in part on the net...
It may well be that those christmas bills have started arriving and we spent way more than we expected, the family have left to go back to their lives in the real world or is it that we allow the real world to take a hold again.
The spirit of Christmas, seems for the most part, to give us the strength to dream, it gives us freedom to be ourselves and most of all it allows to do things we never thought possible. It gives us strength.
Whether it is through a collective conscienous or a conditioning of the human mind, I do not know, but the warm fuzzy feeling most of us get at this time of year is inspirational. We donate more to charities, seem to more tolerant of others and are generally nicer people.
So Why cant this last past Christmas?
Why does life have to intrude on our ability to be the people we know we are inside?
Your thoughts are welcome and wished for....!

self-centered and high maintenance.
8. CARROT CAKE -- You are a very fun loving person, who likes to laugh. You
are fun to be with. People like to hang out with you. You are a very warm
hearted person and a little quirky at times. You have many loyal friends.

Read about the Season of Goodwill

Ok, so Chistmas has passed, but read this and reflect on the true meaning of the Season of Goodwill.

The old man sat in his gas station on a cold Christmas Eve.

He hadn't been anywhere in years since his wife had passed away. He had no decorations, no tree, no lights. It was just another day to him. He didn't hate Christmas, just couldn't find a reason to celebrate. There were no children in his life. His wife had gone.

He was sitting there looking at the snow that had been falling for the last hour and wondering what it was all about when the door opened and a homeless man stepped through. Instead of throwing the man out, George ("Old George" as he was known by his customers) told the man to come and sit by the space heater and warm up.

"Thank you, but I don't mean to intrude," said the stranger. "I see you're busy. I'll just go."

"Not without something hot in your belly," George turned and opened a wide mouth Thermos and handed it to the stranger. "It ain't much, but it's hot and tasty. Stew. Made it myself. When you're done there's coffee and it's fresh."

Just at that moment he heard the 'ding' of the driveway bell. 'Excuse me be right back,' George said.

Just at that moment he heard the 'ding' of the driveway bell. 'Excuse me be right back,' George said.

There, in the driveway, was an old 53 Chevy. Steam was rolling out of the front. The driver was panicked. 'Mister can you help me!' said the driver, with a deep Spanish accent. 'My wife is with child and my car is broken.'

George opened the hood. It was bad. The block looked cracked from the cold; the car was dead. 'You ain't going in this thing,' George said, as he turned away.

'But, mister.. Please help '

The door of the office closed behind George as he went in. George went to the office wall and got the keys to his old truck, and went back outside. He walked around the building and opened the garage, started the truck and drove it around to where the couple was waiting.

'Here, take my truck,' he said. 'She ain't the best thing you ever looked at, but she runs real good.'

George helped put the woman in the truck and watched as it sped off into the night. George turned and walked back inside the office.'

Glad I gave 'em the truck. Their tires were shot, too. That 'ol truck has brand new ...' George thought he was talking to the stranger.. But, the man had gone. The thermos was on the desk, empty with a used coffee cup beside it. 'Well, at least he got something in his belly,' George thought.

George went back outside to see if the old Chevy would start. It cranked slowly, but it started. He pulled it into the garage where the truck had been. He thought he would tinker with it for something to do. Christmas Eve meant no customers. He discovered the block hadn't cracked, it was just the bottom hose on the radiator.'Well, shoot, I can fix this,' he said to himself. So, he put a new one on. 'Those tires ain't gonna get 'em through the winter either.'He took the snow treads off of his wife's old Lincoln. They were like new and he wasn't going to drive the car.

As he was working, he heard shots being fired. He ran outside and, beside a police car, an officer lay on the cold ground. Bleeding from the left shoulder, the officer moaned, 'Help me.'

George helped the officer inside as he remembered the training he had received in the Army as a medic. He knew the wound needed attention. '

Pressure to stop the bleeding,' he thought. The uniform company had been there that morning and had left clean shop towels.. He used those and duct tape to bind the wound.'

Hey, they say duct tape can fix anythin', he said, trying to make the policeman feel at ease.'

Something for pain,' George thought. All he had was the pills he used for his back. 'These ought to work.' He put some water in a cup and gave the policeman the pills.

'You hang in there. I'm going to get you an ambulance.' The phone was dead.

'Maybe I can get one of your buddies on that there talk box out in your car.'

He went out only to find that a bullet had gone into the dashboard destroying the two way radio. He went back in to find the policeman sitting up. 'Thanks,' said the officer. 'You could have left me there. The guy that shot me is still in the area.'

George sat down beside him. 'I would never leave an injured man in the Army and I ain't gonna leave you.' George pulled back the bandage to check for bleeding. 'Looks worse than what it is. Bullet passed right through 'ya. Good thing it missed the important stuff though. I think, with time, you're gonna be right as rain.'

George got up and poured a cup of coffee. 'How do you take it?' he asked.

'None for me,' said the officer.

'Oh, yer gonna drink this. Best in the city. Too bad I ain't got no donuts.'The officer laughed and winced at the same time. The front door of the office flew open. In burst a young man with a gun. 'Give me all your cash! Do it, now!' the young man yelled.

His hand was shaking and George could tell that he had never done anything like this before.

'That's the guy that shot me!' exclaimed the officer.

'Son, why are you doing this?' asked George. 'You need to put the cannon away. Somebody else might get hurt.'

The young man was confused. 'Shut up old man, or I'll shoot you, too. Now, give me the cash!'

The cop was reaching for his gun. 'Put that thing away,' George said to the cop. 'We got one too many in here now.'

He turned his attention to the young man. 'Son, it's Christmas Eve.. If you need the money, well then, here. It ain't much but it's all I got. Now, put that pee shooter away.'

George pulled $150 out of his pocket and handed it to the young man, reaching for the barrel of the gun at the same time. The young man released his grip on the gun, fell to his knees and began to cry. 'I'm not very good at this am I? All I wanted was to buy something for my wife and son,' he went on. 'I've lost my job. My rent is due. My car got repossessed last week '

George handed the gun to the cop. 'Son, we all get in a bit of squeeze now and then. The road gets hard sometimes. But, we make it through the best we can.'

He got the young man to his feet, and sat him down on a chair, across from the cop. 'Sometimes, we do stupid things.'George handed the young man a cup of coffee. 'Being stupid is one of the things that makes us human. Comin' in here with a gun ain't the answer. Now, sit there and get warm and we'll sort this thing out.'

The young man had stopped crying. He looked over to the cop. 'Sorry I shot you. It just went off. I'm sorry officer.

''Shut up and drink your coffee,' the cop said.

George could hear the sounds of sirens outside. A police car and an ambulance skidded to a halt.

Two cops came through the door, guns drawn.

'Chuck! You ok?' one of the cops asked the wounded officer.

'Not bad for a guy who took a bullet. How did you find me?''

GPS locator in the car. Best thing since sliced bread. Who did this?' the other cop asked as he approached the young man.

Chuck answered him, 'I don't know. The guy ran off into the dark. Just dropped his gun and ran.'

George and the young man both looked puzzled at each other.'That guy work here?,' the wounded cop continued.

'Yep,' George said. 'Just hired him this morning. Boy lost his job.'

The paramedics came in and loaded Chuck onto the stretcher. The young man leaned over the wounded cop and whispered, 'Why?'

Chuck just said, 'Merry Christmas boy ... and you, too, George, and thanks for everything. Well, looks like you got one doozy of a break there. That ought to solve some of your problems."

George went into the back room and came out with a box. He pulled out a ring box. 'Here you go. Something for the little woman. I don't think Martha would mind. She said it would come in handy some day.' !

The young man looked inside to see the biggest diamond ring he ever saw. 'I can't take this,' said the young man. 'It means something to you.''

"And now it means something to you," replied George. 'I got my memories. That's all I need.' George reached into the box again. An airplane, a car, and a truck appeared next. They were toys that the oil company had left for him to sell. 'Here's something for that little man of yours.'

The young man began to cry again as he handed back the $150 that the old man had handed him earlier. 'And what are you supposed to buy Christmas dinner with? You keep that, too,' George said. 'Now, git home to your family.'

The young man turned, with tears streaming down his face. 'I'll be here in the morning for work, if that job offer is still good."

''Nope. I'm closed Christmas day,' George said. 'See ya the day after.'

George turned around to find that the stranger had returned. 'Where'd you come from? I thought you left?'"

'I have been here. I have always been here,' said the stranger. 'You say you don't celebrate Christmas. Why?"

''Well, after my wife passed away I just couldn't see what all the bother was. Puttin' up a tree, and all, seemed a waste of a good pine tree.. Bakin' cookies like I used to with Martha just wasn't the same by myself and besides I was getting a little chubby."

The stranger put his hand on George's shoulder, 'But, you do celebrate the holiday, George. You gave me food and drink and warmed me when I was cold and hungry. The woman with child will bear a son and he will become a great doctor. The policeman you helped will go on to save 19 people from being killed by terrorists. The young man who tried to rob you will make you a rich man and not take any for himself.. That is the spirit of the season and you keep it as good as any man.'

George was taken aback by all this stranger had said. 'And how do you know all this?' asked the old man.

'Trust me, George. I have the inside track on this sort of thing. And, when your days are done, you will be with Martha again.'

The stranger moved toward the door. 'If you will excuse me, George, I have to go, now. I have to go home, where there is a big celebration planned.'

George watched as the old leather jacket and the torn pants that the stranger was wearing turned into a white robe. A golden light began to fill the room.

'You see, George ... it's my birthday. Merry Christmas.'

George fell to his knees and replied, 'Happy Birthday, Lord.'

Christ is the Reason for the Christmas Season and goodwill toward all mankind should continue throuthout the year

As Old as You Feel!

As my next Birthday approaches and I pass the ground breaking 40 years and enter the 41st year of my interesting and colourful life... I find people around me have started to say things like "oh! I am feeling my age!", "your getting old" "hows middle age treating you?" the truth of the matter is I dont feel any different or older than I did when I was 18, there are some things I dont do as well as then and the figure has changed but apart from being much wiser I dont know how 40+ feels. My friend sent me this Email on her 33 birthday and thought it would be great to share as I know I am not the only 40+ out there....

George Carlin’s Views on Aging

Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we’re kids? If you’re less than 10 years old, you’re so excited about aging that you think in fractions.

“How old are you?” “I’m four and a half!” You’re never thirty-six and a half. You’re four and a half, going on five! That’s the key. You get into your teens, now they can’t hold you back. You jump to the next number, or even a few ahead. “How old are you?” “I’m gonna be 16!” You could be 13, but hey, you’re gonna be 16! And then the greatest day of your life .. . You become 21. Even the words sound like a ceremony . YOU BECOME 21. YESSSS!!!

But then you turn 30. Oooohh, what happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk! He TURNED; we had to throw him out. There’s no fun now, you’re Just a sour-dumpling. What’s wrong? What’s changed? You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you’re PUSHING 40. Whoa! Put on the brakes, it’s all slipping away. Before you know it, you REACH 50 and your dreams are gone.

But wait!!! You MAKE it to 60. You didn’t think you would!

So you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50 and MAKE it to 60. You’ve built up so much speed that you HIT 70! After that it’s a day-by-day thing; you HIT Wednesday! You get into your 80’s and every day is a compl ete cycle; you HIT lunch; you TURN 4:30 ; you REACH bedtime. And it doesn’t end there. Into the 90s, you start going backwards; “I Was JUST 92.”

Then a strange thing happens. If you make it over 100, you become a little kid again. “I’m 100 and a half!”
May you all make it to a healthy 100 and a half!!

HOW TO STAY YOUNG
1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay “them.”

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.

3. Keep learning. Learn mor e about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. “An idle mind is the devil’s workshop.” And the devil’s name is Alzheimer’s.

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.

6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love , whether it’s family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don’t take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER :
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away. We all need to live life to its fullest each day!!

Cookies For Santa and God's Love

Ho Ho Ho Everyone,

I promised Santa some dancing cookies but please I do so hope you will forgive me Santa as these were the best I could get delivered at this time.

I read a post the other day written by none other than our very own Dear Santa and it nearly moved me to tears. Oh if you haven't read it yet then please visit HERE. I think you too will be very inspired to think about what truly does matter in life.

I know it put my mind to wondering or as we say down here in the south ta' ponderin'. So I began to think about all of my blessings and I realize that God has indeed blessed me greatly. No I am not wealthy. We are far, far away from being wealthy. But, we always seem to have just what we need to live a very comfortable life. God sees to it that we always have more than enough food to eat, air conditioning in the summer, heat in the winter, and most of all we have been blessed with the most wonderful children any parents could ever hope for.

Sometimes I even feel guilty about the abundance that I have when I think of all the people in the world that have little more than a bowl of mush or rice to eat each day. But, we all have to trust in God's plans for our lives and accept his gifts with great humility and he only ask that we love Him in return. Oh my, God's capacity to love is simply uncomprehensible to me.

Now please don't get me wrong and think that we never have our trials and tribulations. Because we are mere humans just as everyone else. And, we all know that we must take the bad with the good and trust in God's plan for our lives and move onward.

But, for me this week I have come to understand the true meaning of life and what is truly important and that is love: Love of God, Love of Family, Love of all of God's creations, and the most precious of all these things is to love ourselves and each other.

There is one other beautiful poem I just read last night written by Lyn about God's love. You may find it HERE. Thank you Lyn for such a beautiful poem. It too inspired me to write here today about God and love.

You Cheer me up Award

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Ho Ho Ho Everyone,

Today I want to thank Ann from A Nice Place in the Sun for this wonderful award. It is Ann's first award that she has made and that makes it very special to me indeed.

Ann says:

Most of us know who and what cheers us up- what we don't know is how we cheer up others or if we're making a difference in their lives. That's because we let too much time go by without telling those we appreciate how much they mean to us, until it's too late and the opportunity slips away. So I decided to create an award to let my friends and co-workers in the blogosphere know that they cheer me up! Hence, I'm happy to present my first award on A Nice Place In The Sun, the You Cheer Me Up Award.

The bloggers I nominated cheer me up like Charlotte from Charlotte's Web, a box of Peanut Butter Panic from Blue Bunny Ice Cream, and a copy of a picture I have in my home of Lucy and Ethel on the job at a candy company. The few things I mention here are just a few examples of the kind of stuff I will never have the chance to show my gratitude for instance I will spend a lifetime wishing I could give the creator of Charlotte's creator E.B. White a You Cheer Me Up Award... And Oh, how I dream I could give an award to Lucy and Ethel for the whole idea of them on the job at the Candy Company- trying to eat candy as fast as the conveyor belt delivered it ... but again, a thank you is out of the question ...However, I can give the bloggers give the bloggers who make me laugh, until my face hurts from laughter an award, and the bloggers who write something so close to home I feel my own knees cross home base, then there's the blogger whose writing voice seems to come out of your own mouth- I can give all of you the You Cheer Me Up Award and that's exactly what I'm going to do

Thank you Ann and I will pass this on to others because it is very specal but in the meantime while I decide who I want to pass this award right back to you because I always love to visit your home and get a daily dose of cheer. Thank you so much

Who says I'm fat

Ho Ho Ho Everyone,

Well lately I seem to be hearing a lot about my weight.

A couple of well-meaning letter-writers have pointed out that someone of my size and behavior has no right to be asking for milk and cookies from every house the night of Christmas Eve. They say (more or less tactfully) that I'm too fat. Well what can I say. Thank you for your concern. However...My weight suits me perfectly, for several reasons.

First, it's very cold here at the North Pole. Right now, the temperature is (hold on, let me look) minus 24 degrees -- and today's a nice day! I invite any of you worried about my weight to live in this climate for a few days, and then talk to me about insulation.
Second, related to this, think about polar bears: I bet no one would feel the need to point out to a polar bear that he or she could lose a few pounds. (Bear Bryan, our reindeer trainer, weighs in at just under 1,000 pounds! He thinks I'm downright skinny.)
Third, my snack request has been a long-standing one that began back in the days when "milk and cookies" meant milk from healthy cows who ate grass and cookies baked with natural, wholesome ingredients -- that is, long before pesticides, BGH, trans fats, additives, and all the other nasties began appearing in our foods.
So it's true that too much of that stuff is unhealthy for me. (And you too, for that matter.)
So maybe it's time to update my Christmas eve requests. This year, for the first time, I'm asking for healthy milk and cookies -- or, better yet, some sort of nutritious snack you think I'd enjoy. (My suggestion is to ask your mom or dad what they like -- parents have a pretty good sense of what adults like to snack on late at night.) Thank you!
Speaking of food, gotta run! I'm meeting Mrs. Claus for lunch in the kitchen. (I know what you're thinking...tomato soup! Ho Ho Ho)

My random act of kindness.....

At Christmas time this year something special happened to me, Now my Daughter says I saved a life and I guess that is true, but for me it was just me being me.... I try to help people out at all times , I know how it feels to be down and out ....
here's the story :

Footprints by Mary Stevenson
One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was
walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the
sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he
noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one
belonging to him, and the other to the Lord. When
the last scene of his life flashed before him, he
looked back at the footprints in the sand. He
noticed that many times along the path of his life
there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed
that it happened at the very lowest and saddest
times in his life. This really bothered him and he
questioned the Lord about it. "Lord, You said that
once I decided to follow you, You'd walk with me all
the way. But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life, there is only one set
of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed
you most you would leave me." The Lord replied,
"My son, My precious child, I love you and I would
never leave you. During your times of trial and
suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it
was then that I Carried You."

I know this may come off as silly, but this is a true story. this happened to me just a few days ago....
I don't expect to win any prizes, or be told I'm great, the fact of the matter is, I'm no better than anyone else, but I do donate lots of money and time to charity, among some of the causes I serve are homelessness coalition, children home society, humane society, salvation army and united way and the SIDS foundation.... I just can't stand to see a person, NOT anyone for that matter, look that sad and lonely, homeless or hungry....
I saw her standing there, at the back of her truck, she looked like life had finally beaten her. her face sad and twisted with pain. I thought to myself, as I was counting money and preparing to go shopping for a couple things for my kids and my Georg, I have been that sad , real sad with a look like the woman had on her face, it wasn't hard to see pain. The tears streamed down her face.... When I lost my Bryan a few years back I took off one day and stood at my truck thinking about what had been the one thing that had changed the path that would lead my Son to his death many years later, I kept thinking that if I had of never married Georg maybe he would never have been on that road and crashed his truck, If we had never moved to Northern Florida maybe our paths would have been changed. The mind works many angles while grieving, years later I realize that death, like life, has a path it follows and as in any path, it must end. It matters not the pathway or its conclusion. Every living thing has a beginning and an end, Thats life.......
Anyway, I asked the woman if she was OK as I went into the store and she just looked at me as if I was intruding in her misery.... she shook her head.
I went in and shopped , I grabbed this and that and as I was at check out I saw the "footprints" poem on a little glass stand, it was priced at 9.99, I thought about the woman and her sad face,I thought back at how God and my Friends had carried me when I was down, Something told me this woman needed carrying right now. I don't know why I felt this, I just did, so, I bought it on impulse, I then went back to the gift wrap department and asked them to wrap it, all the while I was thinking that, I was silly, the woman would be gone when I got out of there, I had been in the store for 2 and 1/2 hours. Maybe if she were there, She would be pissed at me for poking into her personal business..... I didn't think much more about it, I just kept up with the process. I hurried out of the store, I saw the truck, I saw the lady, she was sitting this time, weeping quietly , I walked up to her and I asked: Ma'am are you OK? She said yes, I am, I just need to cry, I asked her what was the matter, She explained to me that she had lost her Mother 3 years ago at Christmas time and her only Son last year at Christmas time, She said the holidays were hard for her.... I looked at her with tears in my eyes this time and said I know what you mean Ma'am....... I lost my Son just after the holidays in 2004 and It just didn't feel right for a few years but that I was now back to feeling the Christmas spirit and that I wanted everyone to feel it. She said well, I wont feel that for a long time, maybe never.... I was a little embarrassed because I had bought a gift for someone I didn't even know! I am mushy like that, I do things without thinking.....
I went to my truck and thought about it, I mean, I understand her feelings, I felt them too, But, I also know that at some point we just have to deal with it.......
I looked at the pretty box, I thought about it and I got back out of my truck, I walked back over to the lady who still had tears in her eyes, I reached out my hands, They were shaky as I handed the gift to her, I said "Merry Christmas" and turned to walk away, She just sat there the whole time with a shocked look on her face..... I got back in my truck and drove down through the plaza to the grocery store, I parked. I thought about the lady and life, I wondered how we as humans really are able to handle death and loss, I for one know that there is a God and he carries us when we can't do it ourselves...... I went to buy the things I needed.
I came out of the store and I went to my truck, as I got in I noticed a paper stuck to my windshield wipers, I got back out and took the paper off, I opened it and inside was a note, the note said, Thank you kind woman, at the very moment you came to me as an angel of God, I was thinking of committing suicide, I felt life had done nothing for me but give me pain. You showed me that there are still kind people in this world and that love is still around. I love the gift you gave to me, I will keep this as long as I live to remind me of how Special life and strangers are. I am also aware now that Christmas Spirit must be allowed back into my heart, for if a stranger can show me such unselfish love, then I am able to love myself again also. Thank you sweet lady, I will not forget what you have done for me.... June
I have never saw this lady before or since. I don't know her. I just hope that when she is down, she allows God to carry her burdens.....
OK people help your fellow man, woman, child or even four legged friends... Do a random act of kindness, I promise it will give you the best feeling and it will give the other person an even better feeling.....PEACE!
Merry Christmas.......
This is a true story, it happened to me. I guess I always have drawn people to me, after all I love people, It matters not what walk of life they come from. I am able to hang out with the less fortunate or even the very lucky.... What I'm asking you is this: Can you help someone change their life.... Would you help? I encourage you to go out right now and MAKE a difference!
Give freely of you and what you have....
Hugs and until we meet again...... Care to share, Dare to care!
If you would care to read more about me and my Life come to visit me at Sugar Queen's Dream
Peace!

The Magic of Christmas every Day

Do you remember the Christmas joy you felt as a child?

The thrill of seeing snow falling gently from the sky, blanketing the ground with a white beauty?

The pleasure of watching twinkling lights so alive with color and so bright with their warm glow?

The excitement of exploring the packages wrapped with their beautiful bows and paper, so full of wonderful mystery?

The pure delight of decorating the tree, ooh-ing and ah-ing over the ornaments as if each were a forgotten treasure that had been found anew?

The aroma of Christmas cooking that escaped from the kitchen and filled the house with delicious promises of what would soon come?

The anticipation of Christmas eve, waiting on something magical to happen and knowing that you were secure in the company of loved ones?

May every day this year bring you that ageless Christmas magic to fill the eyes and heart of the child in you.
As always,
Santa

Christmas Clean Up and Decorated Hearts

Ho Ho Ho and Hello To All,

The heart above is dedicated to two lovely ladies that are also contributors here.

Maunie James

"Christmas Clean Up"

and

Robin Lee Sardini

"Decorated Hearts"

Both of these wonderful ladies wrote a post about the days after Christmas and both of the posts are simply beautiful and inspirational for all. I know I really enjoyed the read and it inspired me to grab this little heart that I found and add the little phrase about Christmas and the heart. I hope all of you will enjoy reading the ladie's articles as much as I did.

Remember everyday can be Christmas if Christmas is in your heart.

A Mobile Home For The Holidays

You might be a redneck if:

* You've ever left Santa Claus a PBR and a Slim Jim.

* You've ever done your Christmas shopping at a truck stop.
(Which I have done occasionally)

* The neighbors started a petition over your Christmas lights.

* Your nativity scene has people wearing camouflage.

* Your outdoor Christmas decoration has a misspelled word.

* You've ever gift wrapped a tire.

Happy Tuesday everyone from a redneck girl in Oklahoma....married to a truck driver and living in a mobile home.

memo from santa

Memo from Santa

I regret to inform you that, effective immediately, I will no longer serve Georgia , Florida , West Virginia , Virginia , North and South Carolina, Tennessee , Mississippi , Missouri , Oklahoma , Texas , Louisiana , Kentucky, Arkansas or Alabama on Christmas Eve.

Due to the overwhelming current population of the earth, my contract was renegotiated by North American Fairies and Elves Local 209. As part of the new and better contract, I also get longer breaks for milk and cookies so keep that in mind. However, I'm certain that your children will be in good hands with your local replacement, who happens to be my third cousin, Bubba Claus. His side of the family is from the South Pole. He shares my goal of delivering toys to all the good boys and girls; however, there are a few differences between us.

Differences such as:

1. There is no danger of the Grinch stealing your presents from Bubba Claus. He has a gun rack on his sleigh and a bumper sticker that reads: "These toys insured by Smith and Wesson."

2. Instead of milk and cookies, Bubba Claus prefers that children leave RC cola (Mountain Dew is ok, too) and pork rinds (or a moon pie) on the fireplace. And Bubba doesn't smoke a pipe. He dips a little snuff, so please have an empty spit can handy.

3. Bubba Claus' sleigh is pulled by floppy-eared, flyin' coon dogs instead of reindeer. I made the mistake of loaning him a couple of my reindeer one time, and Blitzen's head now overlooks Bubba's fireplace.

4. You won't hear "On Comet, on Cupid, on Donner, and Blitzen..."when Bubba Claus arrives. Instead, you'll hear, "On Ear nhardt, on Andretti, on Martin, on Petty."

5. "Ho, Ho, Ho" has been replaced by "Yee Haw." And you also are likely to hear Bubba's elves respond, "I her'd dat"

6. As required by Southern highway laws, Bubba Claus' sleigh has a Yosemite Sam safety triangle on the back with the words
"Back Off."

7. The usual Christmas movie classics such as "Miracle on 34th Street " and "It's a Wonderful Life" will not be shown in your negotiated viewing area. Instead, you'll see "Boss Hogg Saves Christmas" and "Smokey and the Bandit IV" featuring Burt Reynolds as Bubba Claus and dozens of state patrol cars crashing into each other.

And Finally,

8. Bubba Claus doesn't wear a belt. If I were you, I'd make sure the wife and the kids turn the other way when he bends over to put presents under the tree.

Sincerely Yours,
Santa

This was something i came across, thought you guys would like it-i did...

Healing Words' First Post

This is my very first post on Santa's Community Blog. Santa so graciously asked me to be a co~author and it is an honor and privilege to be here.

In contemplating what I might say today and sorting through the bazillion thought fragments swimming around in my morning brain I discovered a few things that just make sense.

1. Good things come, not only in small packages, but in big hearts, as well.
There are plenty of people with big hearts in this Community and throughout the world. The generosity they display is one hallmark of the Christmas Spirit that brings good things to Life.

2. Regardless of our political affiliations, religious beliefs, family traditions, cultural expressions, or life's work, we are all connected by one common bond ~ we love. Love is what holds it all together, keeps us reaching out, keeps us moving forward. The power of Love supports, uplifts, blesses, inspires, encourages and transforms. By the power of Love we are changing the world.

3. Do you know how precious you are? You are as unique as the single snowflake. There is no one else like you. The talents you possess are unlike any other. You are a Gift to the world. And because of you the world is a better place.

4. You are here for a very special reason. A single candle dispels the darkness. Imagine what a thousand candles can do. How about a million candles? When we agree in our hearts and minds and join each other in a common purpose there is nothing we can't do. It all starts with a single candle.

5. Letting your Light shine can be as simple as acknowledging the Truth, exposing injustice, offering a hand, giving a hug, making a call, answering a question, sharing your bread, lending a listening ear, going an extra mile, putting yourself in someone else's shoes and keeping the Faith.

In closing I would like to say that you have decorated my life with more Love than I could have ever wished for. The Spirit of Christmas is truly alive and well. Thank you!

Aussie's words to live by for 2008!

Welcome back Santa and Mrs Claus..
I bet those reindeers were happy to see you...

This time of year is always interesting and fun for me, school holidays till mid february, hot hot days and sunburn are the daily challenges....
So I thought a few little Aussie cynics words of wisdom might be inorder... so I do hope you enjoy:

1. Aspire to be Barbie - the girl has everything
2. If the shoe fits - buy one in every colour.
3. Take life with a pinch of salt… a wedge of lime, and a shot of tequila
4. In need of a support group? - Cocktail hour with the girls!
5. Go on the 30 day diet. (I’m on it and so far I’ve lost 15 days).
6. When life gets you down - just put on your big girl panties and deal with it.
7. Let your greatest fear be that there is no PMS and this is just my personality.
8. I know I’m in my own little world, but it’s ok. They know me here.
9. Lead me not into temptation, I can find it myself.
10. Don’t get your knickers in a knot, it solves nothing; and makes you walk funny.
11. When life gives you lemons in 2007 - turn it into lemonade then mix it with vodka.
12. Remember every good looking, sweet, single male is someone else’s ex boyfriend

Santa and Mrs Claus are Home

Ho Ho Ho Everyone

Well the vacation was wonderful but it's even more wonderful to be back home. There's nothing like relaxing in your favorite chair of sitting here watching the incessant chatter of my wonderful little elves. They drive me crazy but I love every one of them so much

Mrs Claus raced in the door and headed straight for her kitchen. I begged her to come and sit for a while but her greatest joy and happiness is to be in her kitchen cooking up a storm. Besides.. who am I to complain. I get to eat it when she's finished Ho Ho Ho

As soon as we got home we went and said hello to everyone. It was so great to see all of the elves and they all jumped and yelled and whooped and hollered the moment they say us. It's nice to be loved :-)

We headed out to see the reindeer and to give them all an extra scratch behind their ears and a kiss on the nose. How I missed them all so much. it's so wonderful to be home where we all belong

Tomorrow it's straight back to work. I have so much to do already. The first Naughty or Nice reports have been coming in and need to be checked and of course letters never stop coming all year round. I love to get them and it is always my favorite time of the day to sit down and read them with a nice mug of hot milk. Aaaahhhh!! Ho Ho Ho

So everyone... back to work we go. I'll get back to you all again soon with our latest news.

As always

How to install a home security system

1. Go to a second-hand store and buy a pair of men's used size 14-16 work boots.

2. Place them on your front porch, along with several empty beer cans,
a copy of Guns & Ammo magazine and several NRA magazines.

3. Put a few giant dog dishes next to the boots and magazine.

4. Leave a note on your door that reads:

Hey Bubba, Big Jim, Duke and Slim, I went to the gun shop for more
ammunition. Back in an hour. Don't mess with the pit bulls -- they
attacked the mailman this morning and messed him up real bad. I don't
think Killer took part in it but it was hard to tell from all the
blood.

PS - I locked all four of 'em in the house. Better wait outside.

The Vacation ends as Mrs Claus has a big surprise

Ho Ho Ho Everyone
Oh Mrs Claus!!!! I don't think so!!
Well everyone. What a nightmare. Mrs Claus has had me at our secret tailor today shopping for new clothes. When we arrived he said he had a surprise for me and you know me... I always love surprises.
He left and after a few minutes came back with this Santa suit. I must admit my initial reaction was one of horror whilst Mrs Claus kept saying that she would love to see me try it on. I wasn't sure if she was joking or not or just trying to have a laugh at my expense. I'd expect that of the elves but not Mrs Claus Ho Ho Ho
Anyway, I went into the change room and put on the suit and Mrs Claus made me turn every which way and then some more getting me to model for her. What a nightmare Ho Ho Ho I kept thinking to myself NO! NO! NO!
Of course after we had got the elves off the walls and ceiling because they were laughing and carrying on so much, Mrs Claus told me that it was indeed a joke and that she just wanted something that we would always remember as we finished our vacation and headed home. I have to admit I was so relieved but I secretly got the store owner to wrap up the suit so I could take it home. Who knows when it might come in handy some day. You can never tell!!
Oh well!! The vacation is over and we are heading home. We have had such a wonderful time and met a few of our friends and had the most wonderful time together. Even the elves were well behaved for a change. (For an elf, that is) Ho Ho Ho
We'll soon be home and back to work and I'll keep you up to date with everything that is happening at our home in the North Pole
Until next time and until we meet again
as always,
Santa ô¿ô

Santa spends the day water skiing

Ho Ho Ho Everyone.

Well... the vacation continues. Lucky me Ho Ho Ho

We moved again today. Back to the river to do some water skiing. I just love doing that. It's such fun. When we first got going I stupidly allowed the elves to drive the boat. What a huuuuuge mistake Ho Ho Ho. Of course elves know what a straight line is but would rather the fun of zigzagging left and right trying to see if they could make me fall over. They are such naughty little rascals. Thankfully Mrs Claus took over the wheel and we actually got to go in a straight line. So much better.

I must admit after a few hours of all the exercise I was very tired and we spent the whole afternoon napping in the sun. It was so wonderful and we all needed the rest. especially my ears from all the noise the elves make Ho Ho Ho

Once again, I'm not sure what is planned for tomorrow. Mrs Claus tells me that we only have a couple of days left before we have to head home and get back to work. The year goes so quickly and we have so much work to do.

Thank you all for listening to my silly stories about our vacation. We're having such as wonderful time. Catch you all later.

As always,

My day in the sun with Santa

All the planning I had to do...first I had to threaten the blog elf when he didn't want to give me the information about where Santa would be...then convince hubby we needed a day at the beach..(that one was easy) get a hotel near the mansion Santa and all his elves and reindeer
stay at...bribe the cabana boys to tell me where they usually sit..(that was easy too) send hubby deep sea fishing for the day...(the easiest) and wait in the shadows until Santa finished his hot dog..a dish of fries..two ice cream sundays..and a big fat cigar.. I'll bet Speedy gave him...after Mrs Claus smeared him with sunscreen..I waited until he got a bit away from his big gang and popped out at him...he knew who I was right away (he's Santa for crying out loud)...and then nonchalauntly started walking beside him..we talked about everything under the sun..and boy was it hot..he couldn't solve all my problems but he is an awesome listener...it was one of the best days of my life..I really do love Santa...I wanted to meet the Mrs...but she was snoring when we got back so he just sent me on my way...I'll remember that day forever Santa..you are my hero..your greatest fan...Maunie

Rusty Chevrolet (Jingle Bells)

DASHING THROUGH THE SNOW
IN MY RUSTY CHEVROLET
DOWN THE ROAD I GO
SLIDING ALL THE WAY
I NEED NEW PISTON RINGS
I NEED SOME NEW SNOW TIRES
MY CAR IS HELD TOGETHER
BY A PIECE OF CHICKEN WIRE

CHORUS:
RUST AND SMOKE THE HEATER'S BROKE
THE DOOR JUST BLEW AWAY
I LIGHT A MATCH TO SEE THE DASH
AND THEN I START TO PRAY
THE FRAME IS BENT THE MUFFLER WENT
THE RADIO IT'S OK
OH WHAT FUN IT IS TO DRIVE
THIS RUSTY CHEVROLET

I WENT TO THE IGA
TO GET SOME CHRISTMAS CHEER
I JUST PASSED UP MY LEFT FRONT TIRE
AND ITS GETTING HARD TO STEER
SKIDDING DOWN THE HIGHWAY
RIGHT PAST THE NEGAUNEE COPS
I HAD TO DRAG MY SWAMPERS
TO GET THE CAR TO STOP

(REPEAT CHORUS)

BOUNCING THROUGH THE SNOWDRIFTS
IN A BIG BLUE CLOUD OF SMOKE
PEOPLE LAUGH AS I DRIVE BY
I WONDER WHAT'S THE JOKE
I GOT TO GET TO SHOPKO
TO PICK UP THE LAYAWAY
CAUSE SANTA CLAUS IS COMING SOON
IN HIS BIG OLD RUSTY SLEIGH

(REPEAT CHORUS)

The Vacation Continues.....

Ho Ho Ho Everyone!!

Well... What a vacation we are having this year. I can't believe I'm not exhausted with all of the activities Mrs Claus has arranged and the elves have been wonderful little companions.

That day at Golf with Eric was so wonderful so today we thought we would take things a bit easier and head back to the beach. It was a lovely day. The sun was shining and the water was so warm and wonderful!!

We lay in the sun for quite a while and surfed and then later I decided to get a little peace and quiet and left Mrs Claus to amuse the elves for a while and went for a walk on the beach alone.

I hadn't gone far before I heard someone calling. It sounded a little like "YooooHooooo Saaaantaa!!!!". Of course as you know that got my attention immediately because Santa isn't exactly a common name like Bruce or Bob or Harry so I figured it must have been someone calling me.

Next thing I knew I was walking along the beach with Maunie chatting away like there was no tomorrow. We talked and talked and talked and I remember complimenting Maunie on her bright red swimsuit and her hat. Nice touch!! Very thoughtful I thought!!

Without realizing we had walk miles and miles and then had to turn around and walk all the way back. Now I'm exhausted!! Ho! Ho! Ho! Maunie said her goodbyes after our wonderful time together and off she went back to the place where she magically appeared from. (I must ask her how she did that. Might be helpful on Christmas Eve)

I dropped in the sand next to Mrs Claus and then wished I had kept walking. "Who was that woman I saw you with?" she said. "Did you see what she was wearing?", followed closely behind.

"My Dear", I said, "What woman?". Ho Ho Ho

Well...... needless to say Mrs Claus was slightly miffed till I told her that it was my friend Maunie who had appeared as if by magic from BlogWorld for some special time and as our vacation was all about expecting the unexpected it was another wonderful day.

Once again, I'm not sure what is planned for tomorrow.i think it's the elves turn to choose. Of course I'll keep you up to date with what we are doing. Until then, Look after yourselves and each other.

Santa's Day Playing Golf with Speedy

Ho Ho Ho Everyone.

What a wonderful day we had today. Eric left me a message to say that if I was feeling like playing golf then he would be in!! You know what he's like with a golf. A bit of a tragic really Ho Ho Ho

Anyway, after meeting up with Eric we headed for the local course and had a few rounds. I particularly liked the 19th hole where I filled myself up with cookies and milk and Eric had Goodness knows what!! It reminded me of something that I usually find in the reindeer hut I think Ho Ho Ho (Sorry Eric) :-)

What a day we had. Eric made me promise to tell you that he won at every hole and I always keep my promise. Great game Eric. Of course he had the buggy and a caddy and I gave up getting the elves to carry my clubs because they kept running down the fairway hitting the trees and yelling and laughing hysterically. Talk about playing with 10 handicaps Ho Ho Ho

I want to thank Eric for a wonderful day. I really enjoyed it and his company as usual and while I think of it I did have an extra little gift for you for Christmas.
Talk to you all again soon

Today we went Skiing

Ho Ho Ho Everyone
Well as you can see by Mrs Claus latest photo, today we went skiing.. or should i say, tubing. It was so much fun but veeeery wet Ho Ho Ho
I should have known better than to let the elves drive the boat because their idea of fun was to zigzag everywhere trying to get me to fall out of the tube and into the water.
Still... I suppose it's very unlikely that you can stay dry doing such a thing but I don't like getting my whiskers wet. My beard takes forever to dry Ho Ho Ho
Anyhow, we had so much fun and even Mrs Claus had a try. She was so funny to watch and she was so determined to do better than me but that wasn't very hard Ho Ho Ho
Tomorrow I think we are headed back to the beach for the day. I love the beach. It's so.... beachy Ho Ho Ho and besides I love to surf too. I bet you never thought you'd get to see Santa surfing.
I hope you're all having a wonderful new year so far and that everything is fantastic for you. I'll catch you all again tomorrow. In the meantime be nice to each other Ho Ho Ho

Santa and the Elves go Fishing

Ho Ho Ho Everyone

Happy New Year Everyone. I hope the year ahead for all of you will be wonderful and filled with joy and happiness and may all of your dreams come true.

Well... our vacation is going great. we're having such a wonderful time. Today I went fly fishing with a few of the elves. What a time we had!! Those little guys really are so good. Made me feel like a complete amateur compared to them.

We did catch some fish and let most of them go. We did keep a few though for our dinner and they were so delicious. Mrs Claus is such a wonderful cook. She could make a rock and seaweed taste delicious (Not that I'd want to eat that Ho Ho Ho )

I loved the way the elves we able to get about in their little boat. They are so wonderful. One of them did make me laugh so much though when the fish he hooked was twice as big as he is and he shot out of the boat like a bullet. Just as well I was able to get him out quick and it turned out that the fish he caught was the best and biggest of the day. Well done!!!

I'm not sure what we have planned for tomorrow. I'm sure whatever it is it will be fantastic and so much fun. we are having such a wonderful time. I'll talk to you all again really soon and tell you about our wonderful vacation.

See you all later.
